Just How Off the Rails Is the US Political Spectrum?

As a matter of perspective, you may be interested in knowing what the upcoming election in Canada's westernmost province, British Columbia, is being fought on the basis of.

The center-right business-focused party, laughably called the BC Liberals, have been in power since the turn of the millenium.

The leftish party, the BC NDP, has dithered in opposition for a generation over the problem of having their traditional base, unions, alienated over the wish of many on the left to preserve the environment from the ravages of "job creating" pipelines, forest devastation, mining, and land-gobbling dams built to produce more energy for export.

With that set-up, what do you think the main issues might be in the election coming up in early May?

Distractions like how can we diss immigrants? How can we get more guns into the hands of the mentally ill? Who can we call traitors?

Naw.

Canada's a sane country, like most of the rest of the developed world.

The business party is running on cutting the premiums for universal government-provided health insurance in half next year, and then eliminating them completely the year after that.

Oh, and increasing the minimum wage to $11.25, while the dirty socialists want to lift it to $15.

Americans back in "The Homeland" need to recognize just how much of an outlier and a backward nation the US is becoming.

You need to dream bigger, look outward, and demand much, much, much more than what's being offered to you by the political status quo.
